For pieces you wear often, like engagement rings and wedding bands, once or twice a year is a good rule of thumb.

Everyday wear adds up, and catching a loose stone or worn prong early is a lot easier than dealing with a lost diamond or gemstone.

We look at the prongs and settings for wear, check that every stone is secure, and look over the metal for thin spots, cracks, or bent areas.

Rest assured that if we find anything, we’ll let you know before any repair work begins.

The way in which pieces are cleaned does depend on the piece's overall status.

That said, in general, we implement a mix of ultrasonic cleaning, steam cleaning, and hand polishing.

The ultrasonic bath uses sound waves to lift dirt and buildup off of the piece. This helps especially in getting foreign materials out of tough spots you wouldn’t otherwise be able to clean (like under or between prongs). From there, steam cleaning rinses away what's left, and hand-polishing is the final touch that brings the shine back to the piece.

Most stones and metals hold up fine to a professional cleaning, but some softer or more delicate gemstones need a gentler touch (like pearls or opals). For these particular stones, we clean the piece with a gentler method to ensure the stones stay safe.
